Barrel Fest is back at Ritchie Park on September 12, bringing together some remarkable producers of barrel-fermented and barrel-aged beer and cider from Alberta, across Canada, and as far away as Belgium and Scotland. Hosted by Blind Enthusiasm and The Monolith, it’s a rare chance to drink these beers alongside the people who actually make them.
For a festival built around breweries, Slow Pour is a bit of an odd guest. We like that.
We’ll be there again this year with our own little corner of the festival and a few things we think are worth sharing. Barrel Fest is an unusually good gathering of people keeping old traditions alive, pushing them somewhere new, and making Edmonton part of a much larger international beer conversation.
